The BBG is excited to announce the winners of our 2016 photography competition. Themed Capturing the Wonder of our Living Wetlands, it was a great opportunity for photo and nature enthusiasts to showcase the wonderful biodiversity in our area.

Wendy Wilkins received the Overall Winner Award for her photo of a Rufous Night Heron (pictured top right). Wendy’s prize includes a one year subscription to Landscope magazine and an Annual All Parks Pass from DPaW.

Volunteers Are Blackwood’s Best

The Blackwood Basin Group (BBG) held a morning tea for the macroinvertebrate citizen scientist volunteers at Tasty Edibles in Greenbushes.

For the last two years the Blackwood Basin Group has been gratefully accepting help from a dedicated group of volunteers.  Every week they meet up at the Greenbushes Community Gardens to collect, process, preserve, and identify the insects inhabiting the Greenbushes wetlands as a part of the federally funded Priority Bittern and Waterbird project.

BBG Win National Landcare Award!

Its’s official! The Blackwood Basin Group is the best community based landcare group in Australia!  At the recent National Landcare Awards the BBG took out the Fairfax Media Community Group Award, which was judged against similar groups from across the country.
