Last week the BBG held 2 events in Darkan to promote and educate the community on the Threatened Red-Tailed Phascogale. The first event was a community workshop held in Darkan Town Hall, with speakers Gen Harvey, WWLCZ and Angela Sanders, Bush Heritage Australia. Both ladies were extremely interesting gave the community a fantastic insight into the species and what they have been doing to help preserve it.
The second event was held at Darkan Primary School and consisted of the year 4,5,6 class along with a number of enthusiastic Father’s constructing Phascogale nest boxes under the instruction of Joe Tonga.
Joe then went on to give a presentation to the whole school and a fun night stalk.
Both the events also had a visit from WWLCZ very own Red-Tailed Phascogale, which caused much excitement at the Darkan PS.
These events were made possible with funding from the Australian Government, SWCC, Landcare Australia and South32.
