Community engagement is integral to the long-term project success. Community members have the opportunity to get involved in activities such as:

  • surveying birdlife and flora
  • identifying macro-invertebrates
  • revegetation planting days; and
  • installation and monitoring of Cockatoo nestboxes

Watch our Macroinvertebrate Team on their Bug Hunt!

A variety of field days and information workshops will also be run throughout the project and will provide a fantastic opportunity to work with the project and meet others.

There is already a small army of volunteers involved in the Priority Bittern and Water Bird project, who have been vital in identifying and preserving macro-invertebrates and completing flora and weed surveys on site. A big thank you to all our fantastic volunteers and project partners who are helping to make this such a great project already. If you would like further information about the project, or are interested in volunteering, please contact our Project Officer Joby Rand or call the office on 9765 1555.

Volunteers can meet every Tuesday morning at the Greenbushes Garden Centre where a project office has been set up. Alternatively, if you have a specific skill set or knowledge that you think would be valuable to the project, please don’t hesitate to contact Joby to discuss how you can be involved.
